Waterproof Phone pouch It is a gadget that protects your phone from being dropped or damaged in pools, ponds, or other bodies of water. Thankfully, there are now a ton of alternatives for inexpensive waterproof phone pouches that can float as well as keep your phone dry and protected. At our Brooklyn lab, we tested nine of the top waterproof phone bags for hours. While all of the options are fantastic, we prefer the CaliCase Universal Waterproof Floating Case.

6. Yosh Universal Waterproof Phone Pouch
Best Budget, Runner-Up. Don’t be deceived by the cost. Although it costs little, this Yosh waterproof phone pouch excelled in our testing in a number of categories. The Yosh Universal Waterproof Phone Pouch has two clasps on each side to secure a phone within the case and comes with an adjustable and removable lanyard. However, they also reported that while submerged, phones did not function. Our testers remarked how well phones functioned while within the pouch. Although the phone was completely dry during our testing, some water did gather inside the clasps, which the phone must pass through in order to be removed. When the phone was removed after being immersed, that caused a few water droplets to land on it, but it was nothing.
- Two clasps for sealing
- The phone worked well inside the pouch while wet and dry
- Adjustable detachable lanyard included
- Does not float
- Not usable while submerged
7. AquaVault Waterproof Floating Phone Case
Let’s not lie to ourselves. Having a waterproof phone pouch is one thing if you plan to kayak through a quiet harbor or relax poolside. For whitewater tubing, rafting, or kayaking, a waterproof phone pouch is completely different. In other words, the latter needs a little more float and protection than the former. We suggest the AquaVault Waterproof Floating Phone Case for individuals who intend to bring their phones on adventurous—and potentially dangerous—water activities.
The two layers of protection in this case—a Velcro fold-over top and a Ziploc-style closing that is rolled down over itself—impressed our testers. The phone floated back to the surface of the water after being submerged, but only vertically because we were unable to get it to lie down.
- Two layers of defense/protection
- Floats to the top of the water
- The phone works well inside the pouch whether it’s wet or dry
- Does not lay flat on the water
8. ProCase Universal Waterproof Case
Best for iPhones. We were first a little dubious about ProCase’s Universal Phone Case. It appears thin. However, the case passed all of our testings, and we were pleased with how lightweight and waterproof it was. ProCase claims that its phone cover is certified waterproof to a depth of 100 feet and also snow- and dirt-proof. Our test subjects appreciated how simple it was to operate a phone inside the cover in both wet and dry conditions. The prong-style closure was also well-liked by our testers even though it didn’t float to the top. This phone cover comes with an adjustable and detachable lanyard, which we always appreciate.
- Works for all iPhone models
- Easy to use when it’s wet or dry
- Does not float to the top
- Feels flimsy (but still performed fine)
9. FRiEQ Waterproof Case
Best for Swimming. In all areas of our tests, this phone pouch from FRiEQ that is waterproof received high marks. It has a detachable adjustable lanyard and closes with two clasps, similar to a few other items on the list (one on each side). But we really adored how adaptable this case was—perfect for activities performed underwater, including swimming. Phones functioned properly whether dry or wet inside the pouch, but not when submerged in our test tank. This swimming apparatus does not float, so use it with caution.
